By default clients reach the portal on Formspring. With a portal custom domain they use
an address you own, such as portal.youragency.com, so the portal feels like part of your
agency.
You need agency mode on the Team or Scale plan, and you must be the workspace owner or an admin.
Set it up
- Open Settings → Agency and switch to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to Portal custom domain.
- Type your Portal domain, for example
portal.youragency.com, and choose Save. - At your DNS provider, add the DNS record shown on the page. It is a CNAME that points your domain to the address Formspring shows.
- Choose Check DNS to see whether it is in place.
Use a subdomain such as portal.youragency.com. A bare domain cannot have a CNAME record.
Status
Once a domain is saved, an Issuance status section shows where it stands. The page refreshes the status on its own while it is pending, so you can leave it open.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Setting up | DNS is not pointing here yet, or the secure connection is still being set up. This usually takes 1 to 5 minutes once DNS is correct, and it starts automatically. |
| Live since a date | The domain is live with its certificate. |
| An error message | Issuance did not complete. Fix the DNS record, then choose Retry issuance. |
DNS changes can take time to spread. If Check DNS still shows the record as missing, wait and check again.
Change or remove the domain
- To switch domains, replace the text in Portal domain and choose Save.
- To stop using a custom domain, choose Clear domain.
